COGNOS issues

Issues accessing COGNOS

  • Your access ID does not appear to work when trying to access COGNOS. Contact the C&IT helpdesk at (313) 577-4357 to ensure you have access to the SET reporting system.
  • If you are off-campus, you will need VPN access. Please read how to install a VPN on your computer and contact the C&IT help desk at 313-577-4357 for assistance.
  • We have discovered that some experience issues when accessing COGNOS. The following are fixes that may be helpful. 
    • Clearing your cache works well for some.  OR
    • Using an in-private window is another option to use, see below:
      • If using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, you will need to use their software’s in-private feature. The steps are below:
        • On the URL line, click ALT plus F.
        • A box will display (depending on your software’s browser)
          • Google Chrome will say New Incognito window
          • Microsoft Edge will say New InPrivate window
        • A black screen will appear. From there you can access COGNOS through Academica as you normally would. 
      • If you continue to have access issues, please complete a  SET Technical Support Form and one of our team members will assist you.

Report retrieving tips

  • For browsers, Chrome or Microsoft Edge are the preferred options.
  • If you have access to the SET reporting system but cannot view or retrieve your reports, please contact your departmental SET proxy, and they can pull reports for you. If you do not have a departmental proxy, submit a SET Technical Support request, and someone from our team will assist you. 

Faculty reports

  • New faculty will receive access to the SET reporting system (COGNOS) after reports have been posted.
  • The Report schedule provides a list of faculty report availability by semester
