Here is information to help you interpret longitudinal report results.

Q1. How would you rate this course? 

  • Mean of Q1 = The average of all student responses
  • Median of Q1 = The middle number of the student responses in Q1 when arranged in ascending order

Q2. How much have you learned in this course?

  • Mean of Q2 = The average of all student responses
  • Median of Q2 = The middle number of the student responses in Q2 when arranged in ascending order

Q24. How would you rate the instructor's teaching in this course?

  • Mean of Q24 = The average of all student responses
  • Median of Q24 = The middle number of the student responses in Q24 when arranged in ascending order

Mean Sum = The total values of the means of Q1, Q2, Q24

Department Mean Sum = This value is also provided in the Chair's Summary Report in the field Peer Sum Q1,2,24

  • It is the sum of the means of the three bargaining items for the instructor's bargaining peers (GTA, Part-Time Faculty and Full-Time Faculty). If this section is N/A then the instructor was not part of a bargaining group which uses SET data in personnel decisions.

SPA (Student Profile A) = Before enrolling I had an interest in the subject matter of this course.

  • SPA Mean = The average of all student responses for all SPA

SPB (Student Profile B) = I wanted to take this course.

  • SPB Mean = The average of all student responses for all SPB SP Mean Sum = SPA Mean + SPB Mean

Department SP Mean Sum = The Average (SP Mean Sum) of all course sections taught in the department.
