Education doctoral writing exam
Counselor education doctoral program applicants are required to select one question from either counseling theory, career counseling, group counseling, or multiculturalism. The applicant is expected to demonstrate sound writing mechanics, coherence and organization of ideas, and quality of content. Familiarity with the subject matter domains is considered, however, citations and references to specific texts or individuals is not required. The exam is read by counselor education faculty, and is timed for ninety minutes.
How to register
The College of Education Counselor Education Doctoral Writing Examination is offered by individual appointment. Appointments are available Monday through Friday during regular business hours. If you have a documented disability that requires testing accommodations, you will need to register with Student Disability Services for coordination of these accommodations. The Student Disability Services (SDS) office is located at 1600 David Adamany Undergraduate Library in the Student Academic Success Services Department. To schedule an appointment, call 313-577-1851. Rescheduling, refunds, and fees
- The examination fee is $25.00, payable when the testing appointment is made. You may reschedule a test registration a maximum of three times per fee payment.
- A refund can be processed only if it is made before the day of the examination. Requests for refunds made on or after the examination date, or after the third reschedule, cannot be honored.
- Examination fees not rescheduled or refunded are subject to forfeiture after one calendar year.
- Test fees are subject to change without notice.
On the day of the exam
Bring current, signed, photo-bearing identification with you to the examination. Your WSU OneCard is not acceptable identification. Please be on time for your appointment.
